Sharing the Power: Supporting Parents and Schools to Work in Collaboration FILLING
Limited Capacity filling up

This interactive session combines both panel discussion and activities that highlight models that help parents and schools share the power and operate in ways that encourage dialogue rather than acquiescence.  Using strength-based approaches, we will examine how our implicit bias is complicated by layers of culture and  impacts relationships and decisions being made for students with disabilities.  Attendees will learn strategies to ensure that parents are vital members of the I.E.P. team and have shared power in the decision making for their child. It is our intention to include a representative from minority organizations who have benefited from our consultation.
